Magazine Photograph signed: "Whitney [She has drawn a smiling face.]" Color, 10x8. Houston (1963-2012), the daughter of R&B/Gospel singer Cissy Houston and the niece of popular singer Dionne Warwick along with the Goddaughter of Aretha Franklin, became the first recording artist to have seven consecutive singles reach #1 on the charts. Her version of Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" became the biggest selling pop single of 1992, and has since become a popular wedding anthem. Between 1985 and 1999, she earned six Grammy awards. In the 1990s, she turned her efforts increasingly to films, starring in, and singing on the soundtrack for, such hits as The Bodyguard (1992), Waiting to Exhale (1995) and The Preacher's Wife (1996). She also appeared in numerous commercials throughout her career. Houston's passing was the night prior to the 54th Grammy Awards (2012), this was devastating to many and Houston was honored at the Grammys for her achievements as an iconic vocalist. She was also remembered the night of her passing at the famous Clive Davis party in which she was honored throughout the night by close friends and others. Top edge frayed. Otherwise, fine condition.
