Document signed "Whoopi Goldberg" twice (once upside-down) and by a
representative of George Schlatter Productions. Red ink notations in unknown
hand. 3 pages, 8½x11, bound with 1 staple, photocopy. April 23, 1987.
Addressed to Whoopi, Inc. c/o Gallin, Morey & Associates, Los Angeles,
California attn: Mr. Barry Josephson. Goldberg signed this contract to confirm
that she would appear as a host/presenter on the May 18, 1987 American Comedy
Awards. Her compensation for this appearance was detailed in "Exhibit A", not
enclosed. Though best known as an outspoken comedienne, Goldberg, born
Caryn Johnson in 1955,is also a talented dramatic actress. By
virtue of her distinctive appearance and a persona that is both no-nonsense and
empathic, Goldberg has emerged as one of the most recognizable celebrities of
the '80s and '90s. She received an Academy Award nomination for The Color
Purple (1985), then won Best Supporting Actress for Ghost
(1990). Her other films include Sister Act (1992),
Jumpin' Jack Flash (1986), How Stella Got Her Groove
Back (1998) and Girl, Interrupted (2000). Lightly toned
