WHOOPI GOLDBERG, BILLY CRYSTAL and ROBIN WILLIAMS
All three sign an 11x14 promotional poster for Comic Relief III, under color photos of each.
Printed Photograph Signed in Ink: "Whoopi", "Robin/Williams", "Billy Crystal", 11x14. A photo of each performer on stage, with the caption: "Comic Relief III: The Greatest Comedy Event of the Year (available June 28th)". Though best known as an outspoken comedienne, GOLDBERG is also a talented dramatic actress. By virtue of her distinctive appearance and a persona that is both no-nonsense and empathic, Goldberg has emerged as one of the most recognizable celebrities of the '80s and '90s. She received an Academy Award nomination for The Color Purple (1985), and then won Best Supporting Actress for Ghost (1990). Her other films include Sister Act (1992), Jumpin' Jack Flash (1986), How Stella Got Her Groove Back (1998) and Girl, Interrupted (2000). WILLIAMS (1951-2014), a brilliant improvisational comedian with almost no acting experience, played a space alien in the TV sitcom Mork and Mindy (1978-1982). The show established him as one of America's most popular comedians, one who would soon prove he could handle serious dramatic roles as well. Williams received Best Actor nominations from the Academy of Motion Pictures for Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), Dead Poets Society (1989) and The Fisher King (1991) before finally scoring an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor for Good Will Hunting (1997). CRYSTAL, who was doing stand-up comedy at age 16, made his TV debut on Soap in 1977. After successful guest appearances on Saturday Night Live, his film career took off. Among Crystal's hits, mostly comedies, are The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally (1989), City Slickers (1991) and Analyze This (1999). A longtime baseball fan, Crystal produced *61, a drama on Roger Maris' pursuit of Babe Ruth's home rune record, for HBO in 2001. Crystal was also a hit as emcee of the Academy Award ceremonies, with his famous Clinton jibe, "Didn't Inhale!" Comic Relief is an annual live benefit show for America's homeless. Comic Relief III, released on video in 1989, documented the third such event, hosted by Goldberg, Crystal and Williams and featuring stand-up routines by ten more well known comedians.
