Crook and the future Muhammad Ali, all wearing USA jackets and their gold medals from
the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome. Wilbert McClure (1938-2020) was born in Toledo,
Ohio. He was teammates with boxing legend Muhammad Ali (till known at the time by his
birth name, Cassius Clay) during the 1960 Olympic Games. In those games in Rome, Italy,
McClure defeated Carmelo Bossi to win the Light Middleweight Gold Medal for the U.S.
His teammate, Ali, won the Light Heavyweight Gold. McClure had an unsuccessful
professional boxing career, but had notable matches against Luis Manuel Rodriguez and Rubin
Carter. McClure later served as State Boxing Commissioner of Massachusetts. Also
pictured is Eddie Crook, who won the Middleweight gold for the US. Fine condition.
