WILLARD HERMAN SCOTT, JR.
Scott signed this card in response to a photograph request from viewers Eddie and Betty
Typed letter signed "Willard". 3½x5½. Perforated card with Today Show logo and address printed at top edge. New York, New York. Addressed to "Eddie and Betty". In full: "Dear Eddie and Betty, thank you for your letter and request. I am happy to send a picture along to add to your extensive collection. Keep up that interesting hobby, I think that's great! We appreciate your joining us in the mornings. The best of wishes to you both for a beautiful Christmas season. Love," Photo is not included. Scott, born in 1933, was a DJ at WRC in Washington, DC and host, from 1955 to 1972, co-hosted the nightly show The Joy Boys. He also played Bozo the Clown on WRC-TV in the capital from 1959 to 1962 before moving on to a more famous clown role: the original Ronald McDonald, which he played from 1963 to 1966. Scott was the main weather reporter for NBC's The Today Show during the 1980s, sharing banter and birthday wishes as well as weather with his viewers. He still fills in for his successor, Al Roker, on occasion. Lightly toned. Perforated top edge. "Today" logo cut off by perforation. Staple hole in upper left corner. Otherwise in fine condition.
