WILLIAM "1ST BARONET" JENNER He pens this autograph letter discussing his patients Autograph Letter Signed: "W. Jenner," 2p, 4½x7, front and verso. (London), 1869 August 7. To Mrs. Williams. In full: "Thanks for your note. I am very glad to hear that Mr. Williams bore the journey so well-I trust long before you get this he is walking about a little on his grounds & generally getting fresh air-London has not been very pleasant the past few days. Today is however charmingly fine. Miss Dora should continue her medicine for some little while longer. With best wishes to Mr. Williams." British physician William Jenner (1815-1898) is best known for distinguishing the separate identities of typhus and typhoid fevers (1847). A renowned physician and consultant, he was named Physician Extraordinary (1861) and Physician in Ordinary to Queen Victoria (1862) and Physician in Ordinary to the Prince of Wales (1863). Jenner, who was created a Baronet in 1868, was President of the Royal College of Physicians from 1881-1888. Medical content letters of Jenner are extremely desirable. Lightly creased, shaded edges.
