Typed Letter Signed: "Wm B Saxbe" as U.S. Senator from Ohio, 1 page, 8x10½. Washington, D.C., 1972 December 12. On United States Senate letterhead to Mr. Eugene Miller, Senior Vice President, New York Stock Exchange, Inc., New York, N.Y. In full: "This will acknowledge and thank you for your recent letter enclosing a copy of Mr. Needham's 'A Blueprint for Securities Markets of the Future.' I very much appreciate your thoughtfulness in sharing this with me. A cursory glance evidences the good information it contains, and I certainly look forward to a careful reading of it in the near future. Best wishes for the holiday season. Sincerely yours". William Bart Saxbe (1916-2010), formerly Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives and Ohio's Attorney General, represented Ohio in the U.S. Senate as a Republican from 1969-1974. He resigned from the Senate to become U.S. Attorney General (1974-1975) during the final segment of the Watergate affair, following Elliott Richardson's resignation in the "Saturday Night Massacre". Saxbe was in the post when President Nixon resigned the Presidency on August 8, 1974. He was Ambassador to India from 1975-1977. Slightly creased with folds, lower horizontal fold underlines signature. Receipt stamp at lower right margin, pencil notes (unknown hand) at upper right corner. Fine condition.
