Signature: "William C. Redfield", 5½x2 card. William Cox Redfield (1858-1932) was the first Secretary of Commerce (1913-1919), after the Departments of Commerce and Labor were split at the outset of the Wilson administration. A New York businessman who represented that state for one term in Congress (1911-1913), Redfield had attended the breakaway Indianapolis convention of "Gold Democrats" who refused to support William Jennings Bryan in the 1896 Presidential election. Lightly worn. Lightly creased. Slightly soiled. Mounting residue on verso (no show through). Otherwise, fine condition.
