B/w, 8x10 overall, image 7½x8¼ (one surface). Author William Clark Styron (1925-2006)
was awarded the 1968 Pulitzer Prize in Fiction for The Confessions of Nat Turner, a
first-person account of an 1831 slave rebellion. His other well known novel, Sophie's
Choice, was published in 1979. Styron, who had published his first novel, Lie Down in
Darkness, in 1951, was awarded the American National Medal of Arts by the National
Endowment of the Arts in 1993. Stray ink mark above the "T" of To. Image slightly grainy.
