WILLIAM CONRAD AFTRA contract between Conrad and Steve Binder productions to appear as a "Principal Performer" in Shields & Yarnell Contract signed: "Wm Conrad", in black ink, 2p, 8½x12. Los Angeles, California, 1978 January 9. Headed: "Standard AFTRA Engagement Contract". Agreement between Conrad, c/o Creative Artists Agency, Los Angeles, and Steve Binder Productions, Inc., Los Angeles for the actor to appear as "Principal Performer" on Shields & Yarnell on January 9, 1978. Conrad's compensation was to be $7,500, which included one worldwide run. Compensation for additional replays is detailed in following section. Mimes Robert Shields and Lorene Yarnell had been regular performers on The Sonny & Cher Show (1976-1977) before getting their own variety show, which ran from 1977-1978. In the year of this document, Conrad also appeared in two made-for-TV movies, Keefer and Night Cries, and narrated the miniseries, How the West Was Won. The following year, he would narrate Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. Actor William Conrad (1920-1994) appeared in films from 1946, usually as a bad guy. He is perhaps best known for starring in the title role as TV's Detective Cannon (1971-1976). Conrad's fine voice made him a particularly good fit for radio roles and for TV narrations; he played Matt Dillon in the radio version of Gunsmoke (1952-1961). He also narrated such diverse series as The Fugitive (1963-1967) and Rocky and Bullwinkle (1961-1973). Lightly smudged, not touching signature. 2 file holes at upper margin. Otherwise, fine condition.
