WILLIAM E. "BILL" BROCK III
The United States Secretary of Labor and Senator signed this card in blue ink
Signature: "Bill Brock / MC Tenn" in blue ink on a 3½x2 card. Bill Brock (b.
1930) represented Tennessee in the United States House of Representatives
(1963-1971) and Senate (1971-1977). In his winning Senate race, he beat
country singer Tex Ritter in the Republican primary and then upset 3-term
Senator Albert Gore, Sr. in the general election. He lost his bid for
re-election, but went on to hold other political posts, including UnitedStates
Trade Representative (1981-1985) and Secretary of Labor under President
Ronald Reagan (1985-1987). Brock resigned from the Cabinet to manage
Senator Bob Dole's 1988 Presidential Campaign. Brock was accused of
financial mismanagement and Dole's campaign was unsuccessful. Lightly toned
around edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
