Typed Letter Signed: “Bill Brock” in black ink on a 7x9 sheet of paper. One page.
Dated October 28, 1986. In Part: “Good luck with your project, and I will
certainly / keep David in my prayers”. Bill Brock (b. 1930) represented
Tennessee in the United States House of Representatives (1963-1971) and
Senate (1971-1977). In his winning Senate race, he beat country singer Tex
Ritter in the Republican primary and then upset 3-term Senator Albert Gore, Sr.
in the general election. He lost his bid for re-election, but went on to hold
other political posts: UnitedStates Trade Representative (1981-1985) and
Secretary of Labor under President Ronald Reagan (1985-1987). Brock resigned
from the Cabinet to manage Senator Bob Dole's 1988 Presidential campaign.
Brock was accused of financial mismanagement and Dole's campaign was
unsuccessful. Fine condition.
