William Edward Simon (1927-2000) was Secretary of the Treasury from 1974-1977, serving under Presidents Nixon and Ford. He also launched the Federal Energy Administration, becoming the first in a series of "energy czars". Previously Deputy Secretary of the Treasury (1973-1974), Simon was an astute businessman both before and after his public service, serving on the boards of over 30 prestigious companies. He was also a long-time member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, serving as Treasurer from 1977-1981 and as President during the 1984 Olympic Games. In recognition of his efforts, Simon was inducted into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame in 1991. Top and lower edges rippled. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
