Magazine Cover inscribed and signed: "To Martin R. Federaman/My best wishes/William Simon", 8½x11. Signed by his image on the cover of Time magazine, January 21, 1974. Cover story: "Energy Crunch: Real or Phony?" William Edward Simon (1927-2000) was Secretary of the Treasury from 1974-1977, serving under Presidents Nixon and Ford. Previously Deputy Secretary of the Treasury (1973-1974), Simon was an astute businessman both before and after his public service, serving on the boards of over 30 prestigious companies. He was also a long-time member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, serving as Treasurer from 1977-1981 and as President during the 1984 Olympic Games. In recognition of his efforts, Simon was inducted into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame in 1991. His son, Bill, was a candidate for the Republican nomination for Governor in California in 2002. Worn and creased. Signature in poor contrast and lightly beaded but legible. Unknown stains at lower edge. Corners worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
