In full: "Delighted we will be appearing cheek by jowl. And so glad to see Christopher is appearing again at your historic workshop. Affectionately, [signature] P.S. Typical of you to repaint a masterpiece! I should have passed on Steve Umin's letter of thanks. Your picture hangs in his office. William F. Buckley, Jr. (1925-2008, born in New York City) was a conservative political pundit and authority on language style, founded National Review magazine (1955). He was the long-time host of the TV interview program Firing Line (1966-1999). Buckley is also the author of a series of novels starring C.I.A. agent Blackford Oakes. American author Barnaby Conrad founded the Santa Barbara Writers' Conference and led through 2004, the year of this letter. Steve Umin is an elite New York lawyer. The Christopher of the letter is William Buckley's son, Christopher Buckley, now a columnist and author of several satirical novels. He was obliged to resign from the staff of the National Review after writing a 2008 column (not in the Review) titled, "Sorry, Dad, I'm Voting for Obama!" Horizontal mailing folds. Lightly creased.
