it, he turns down an invitation: "I'll have to be absolutely frank and say I'd
rather be in Switzerland!"

National Review. New York, N.Y., 1984 October 22. To Anne Edwards,
President, the Authors Guild, Inc., New York, N.Y. In full: "I would
love to be with you, but I will be in Switzerland, and I guess as between the
two, I'll have to be absolutely frank and say I'd rather be in Switzerland! With
cordial regards and thanks for your help on the catalogue. I think it is off to
a good start but it has a ways to go." Buckley (1925-2008, born in New York
City) was a conservative political pundit and authority on language style,
founded National Review magazine (1955). He was the long-time host
of the TV interview program Firing Line (1966-1999). Buckley is also
the author of a series of novels starring C.I.A. agent Blackford Oakes.
