The U.S. Congressman from Indiana signs a 5x3 cardin black ink
Signature: "William G. Bray" in black ink, 5x3 card. With printed text reading: "Autograph of:/William G. Bray/Member of Congress, Seventh Indiana District,/1955-1957." William Gilmer Bray (1903-1979) was born in Mooresville, Indiana. He graduated from the Indiana University Law School at Bloomington in 1927. He served as prosecuting attorney of the 15th judicial of Indiana from 1926 to 1930. During World War II he was called into military duty from the Army Reserve and served as a captain in a tank company during the Pacific Campaign, receiving a Silver Star for his service. He came home to the United States with the rank of colonel and practiced private law in Martinsville, Indiana. Bray was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as a Republican from Indiana and served from January 3, 1951 until January 3, 1975. After leaving office he was commissioner to the American Battle Monuments Commission (1975-1978). Slightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
