William G. McAdoo signs a sheet as U.S. Senator from
Calofornia.
Signature: "WG McAdoo" as U.S. Senator from California,
8x10½. On sheet imprinted "United States Senate/Committee on Patents". Captioned
newspaper photograph, b/w, 2x4, affixed at lower left margin. William Gibbs
McAdoo (1863-1941) served as Wilson's Secretary of the Treasury from
1913-1918. On May 7, 1914, 50-year-old McAdoo married President Wilson's
25-year-old daughter, Eleanor, in the White House. They were divorced in
1935. McAdoo, a candidate for the Democratic nomination for President in 1920
and 1924, later served as a U.S. Senator from California (1933-1938).
Lightly creased with folds, not at signature. Lightly shaded, not at signature.
Light paper clip stain at upper right blank margin. Overall, fine
condition.
