In addition to serving as Vice President at the Canteen Corporation following his political career, Stratton became Vice President of Associated Bank, and he was a board member of Dartnell Corporation. William Grant Stratton (1914-2001), a veteran of WWII, was a Republican U.S. Representative from Illinois (1941-1943, 1947-1949), Illinois State Treasurer (1943-1945, 1951-1953) and Governor of Illinois (1953-1961). During his tenure, Stratton was instrumental in the modernization of the state's roadway system and the development and construction of O'Hare International Airport. Stratton, who was a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1952, 1956, 1960 and 1976, had also been a candidate for Secretary of State of Michigan (1948) and for the Republican nomination for Vice President (1960). Lightly creased at blank margins and corners. Minor surface creases and impressions (most not evident head on). Overall, fine condition.
