3½x1½, affixed to 4x2 sheet. William H. Lawrence (1916-1972) was a
World War II correspondent and White House reporter for the New York Times
from 1941 to 1962, when he moved to ABC News. He was an evening news anchor
in his first two years at ABC. Lawrence received the Peabody Award in
1965 for excellence in TV and radio reporting, and the Trustees Award at
the Emmy Awards in 1972. He was President of the National Press Club in
1959. His autobiography, Six Presidents, Too Many Wars was
published shortly before his death. Signature sheet is lightly soiled. Light
vertical crease at the "W" of signature. Mounting sheet is irregularly cut.
