Check signed: "Wm. H. Terry", 8½x3½. Jacksonville, Florida, 1959 April 30. Jacksonville Baseball Company check drawn on the Barnett National Bank for $48.69, payable to John Hairston. Countersigned by another club official. Bill Terry (1898-1989) played first base for the New York Giants from 1923-1936 with a .341 lifetime batting average. He was the last National Leaguer to hit .400 (.401 in 1930) and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1954. As manager of the New York Giants, Terry won pennants in 1933, 1936 and 1937. Bank stamping touches "W" of signature. Otherwise, fine condition.
