On his Congressional letterhead to Alvin W. Hall, Director of Engraving and
Printing, Washington, D.C. In full: "A party of fourteen students of
the Milwaukee University School accompanied by two of their instructors, Messrs
Raymond Moore and Gordon, the bearers of this letter, are about to visit
Washington. I would be favored if you would arrange to have a guided accorded to
show them the points of interest of your institution. Very truly yours".
William Henry Stafford (1869-1957), a Harvard Law School Graduate,
represented his Wisconsin district in the US House of Representatives as a
Republican for 10 nonconsecutive terms between 1903 and 1933, losing five
races to a Democrat during this period in what must have been a very closely
contested district. He was not re-nominated by the Republican Party in 1932.
