Typed Letter signed: "William H. Stafford" as US Representative, 1 page, 8x10½. Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 1929 March 26. On his Congressional letterhead to Alvin W. Hall, Director of Engraving and Printing, Washington, D.C. In full: "A party of fourteen students of the Milwaukee University School accompanied by two of their instructors, Messrs Raymond Moore and Gordon, the bearers of this letter, are about to visit Washington. I would be favored if you would arrange to have a guided accorded to show them the points of interest of your institution. Very truly yours". William Henry Stafford (1869-1957), a Harvard Law School Graduate, represented his Wisconsin district in the US House of Representatives as a Republican for 10 nonconsecutive terms between 1903 and 1933, losing five races to a Democrat during this period in what must have been a very closely contested district. He was not re-nominated by the Republican Party in 1932. Horizontal and vertical mailing folds. Evenly toned. Fine condition.
