WILLIAM HOLDEN He signs for Sig Ruman and himself on a book page showing both in a reproduced movie still from Stalag 17. Book Photograph signed: "From Sig Ruman & Bill Holden/All best -", 6x7¾ (with b/w photo). Nominated three times for Academy Awards for Best Actor, Holden (1918-1981) won the 1954 Oscar for the role of J.J. Sefton in Stalag 17, his role shown here. He was also nominated in 1951 for portraying Joe Gillis in Sunset Blvd. and in 1977 for the role of network news division President Mark Schumacher in Network. Other memorable roles were the boxer/violinist in Golden Boy (his film debut, 1939), Judy Holliday's tutor in Born Yesterday (1950), The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) and The Counterfeit Traitor (1962). The American Film Institute lists Holden as #25 on its list of Hollywood's 100 greatest stars of film's the first century. German actor Sig Ruman (1918-1981), shown here as a camp guard in Stalag 17, often played German heavies - or parodies of such as in several Marx Brothers films. Although not inscribed here, this book page was signed for legendary movie makeup artist Emile LaVigne  (1913-1990). Fine condition. Previously authenticated by JSA.
