Typed Letter signed: "Bill McManus", 1 page, 6¼x8½. Washington, D.C., 1965 July 30. On personal letterhead to Miss Barbara Norton, Sheraton Park Hotel, Washington, D. C., in full: "Congratulations and many happy returns of the day! My best wishes for your continued health and happiness and may this year and the years ahead be filled with all the good things in life. Please - do not take the time to acknowledge this. I just wanted to wish you well on your Special Day. Sincerely". William J. McManus (b. 1900) was Vice President for Public Relations for the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company and then Vice President of Byers-McManus Associates, a Washington consulting firm. A Treasurer of the Republican National Committee, he was appointed by President Reagan in 1983 to the President's Commission on White House Fellowships. Barbara Norton (1926-2012) was publicity director of the Sheraton Park Hotel until her marriage to Loew's Theatre executive Orville Crouch in 1967. She was very well connected in Washington political circles. Normal mailing fold. Fine condition.
