Kurtis" in blue ink.B/w, 8x10 overall, 7¼x9¼ image, one surface.
Kurtis, born William Kuretich in Pensacola, Florida in 1940, is a
television reporter, producer and news anchor. He's currently the host of
numerous A&E documentary series, Investigative Reports and
American Justice, and has shared two Emmy nominations for hosting
A&E's Cold Case Files in 2004 and 2005. Kurtis passed the bar in
1966 from Washburn University School of Law but went into journalism instead. He
started his TV career as a full-time anchor at WIBW in Topkea, Kansas and, on
June 6, 1966, stayed on the air 24 hours to cover the destruction from the
Topeka Tornado of 1966, one of the worst tornadoes in Kansas history. His
warning - "For God's sake, take cover" - became linked with this tornado. He
moved that year to WBBM in Chicago, Illinois as a reporter and then anchorman,
to New York in 1982 to anchor The CBS Morning News for three years,
before returning to WBBM, where he remained as an anchor until 1996. He joined
A&E in 1997. Will Ferrell fans may recognize his voice as that of the
narrator in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy (2004). Lightly toned
and creased. Impressions from other autographs (not visible head on). Otherwise
in fine condition.
