William Lear sends a typed letter of thanks for the note.
Typed Letter Signed: "Bill," 1p, 8½x11. Reno, Nevada, 1973 May 24. To Charles J. Russhon, New York. In full: "Thank you for your note of recent date. I certainly hope that Ford will be interested in what we are doing." Lear has handwritten a postscript: "P.S. GM is getting awful co-operative and warm. Maybe they're awakening. Who knows? Bill."Lear formed Lear Motors Corporation in 1967 to develop a pollution-free engine. This letter may be about that endeavor. Lear was an electronic engineer who founded Lear Avia Corp. in 1934 to produce aircraft navigational equipment and formed and headed Lear, Inc. to manufacture military and aircraft products (1939-1962). In 1962, he organized the Lear Jet Corp. to produce his small jet aircraft for private use. Crease just touches the last "l" in first signature, else fine.
