6¾x10½. William Peter Blatty (1928-2017) wrote critically acclaimed humorous fiction and
nonfiction in the 1960s, including Which Way to Mecca, Jack?, about his previous work with
the US Information Agency. He also wrote several scripts for Blake Edwards, including A Shot
in the Dark (1964). Blatty's crowning success, however, was his novel The Exorcist (1971),
followed in 1973 by the feature film, which he also produced. The Exorcist grossed $165
million at the box office and earned Blatty an Oscar for Best Screenplay. His recent works
include the 2010 novel Dimiter and the teleplay Hell Hospital. Bottom right corner creased.
