Total size 7¾x5. Dated April 25, 1868. One page. In Part: “Can you do me the favour to
write me a list of rich persons formerly actors…if the states are [illegible] to you all the better!”.
William Davidge (1814-1888) was born in London, England. Although he started his
performing career in England, he came to the United States in 1850 and became a
sensation. Davidge toured the country, but also took part in several Broadway productions,
including renditions of Twelfth Night (1869) and Frou-Frou (1870). He published several
books based on his own experience in show business. Toned. Irregular cut. Otherwise, fine
condition.
