4½x3, affixed to a 7x4½ card. Captioned newspaper illustration affixed at
right edge. William R. Morrison (1825-1909) served in the US Army
during the Mexican War and again in the Civil War, rising to the rank of
colonel. A Democrat, he was Speaker of the Illinois House of
Representatives (1859-1860) and a Representative in the US Congress
(1863-1865, 1873-1887). Thereafter, he served on the Interstate Commerce
Commission (1887-1897). Toned and worn. Paper tape at corners. Mounting
residue on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
