Autograph letter signed: "William Roache" in blue ink. 1 page, 8½x11¼. Written on Coronation Street stationary. Original envelope included. November 6, 1984. Granada Television Studios, Manchester, England. In full: "Dear Sir, "Coronation Sreet" is a twice weekly television series that has been running for twenty-four years. My character, Ken Barlow, is the only one remaining from the original episode. Ken was a university student in the original episode. He then became a Teacher, Personnel Officer, Taxi Driver, Community Development Officer and now the Editor of a small local newspaper. In twenty four years he has lost a Mother, Father, Brother and wives (through death not divorce). He is one man Greek Tragedy. But he is intelligent, loyal ad high principled and above all a survivor. Coronation has the highest viewing figures of any show on British Television. Best wishes". William Roache (b. 1932) is a British actor best known for his role as "Ken Barlow" on the popular soap opera Coronation Street (1960-2013), a role which he holds the Guinness World Record for as the longest-serving living actor in a continuous role (43 years).
