Typed letter signed: "William Broomfield" in blue ink. 1 page, 8x10½. Congress of the United States House of Representatives, Washington, D.C. personal letterhead. Dated February 6, 1974. Addressed to Mr. Thomas W. Fagan/ Chief, Special Projects Branch Office of Education for Funds from the Emergency School Aid Act. In Full: "Dear Mr. Fagan, I have had an opportunity to review preliminary documents pertaining to Attorney William Waterman's application for grant funds provided for in the Emergency School Aid Act, and I am pleased to give my support to this application. I am impressed with the Waterman Enterprises Proposal, primarily because the applicant represents a broadly based constituency with persona; experience in the areas of concern to the legislation. More significantly, I am impressed with the fact that although the Midwestern states and school districts are prominent in litigation involving desegregation, the Midwest appears to be neglected when consideration is given to National Grant Applicants of the type provided in legislation herein referred to. For these reasons, I urge you to give favorable consideration to this application. Sincerely, William S. Broomfield, M.C." typed.
