"Here is my sub[scription]. We have just got back from a pleasant
3 weeks in the Surrey Hills, which is all the holiday we can get this Autumn.

William Sproston Caine (1842-1903) was a Liberal Party Member of
Parliament (1880-1885, 1886-1890, 1892-1895, 1900-1903), representing four
different constituencies. Caine's primary issue was temperance, and he
headed several anti-alcohol organizations, including the Baptist Total
Abstinence Society. He was Civil Lord of the Admiralty (1884-1885).
