path to birth." Autograph Quotation Inscribed and Signed on verso:"New York General Theological Seminary/February 24, 1869/My dear Nettie,/'We
wish you good luck in the/Name of the Lord'; 'the Lord grant/thee thy heart's

Johnson" WILLIAM STAUNTON (1803-1889) was a New York Episcopal
clergyman, organist and composer of hymns. SAMUEL ROOSEVELT JOHNSON
(1802-1873) was rector of St John's Episcopal Church in Brooklyn before
accepting an appointment as Professor of Theology at The New York General
Theological Seminary in 1850. Toned. Otherwise, fine
condition.
