WILLIAM STOUT
Autograph Letter signed in 1993, explaining that he doesn't give away his artwork.
Autograph Letter signed: "William Stout", 1 page, 8½x11. Pasadena, California, 1993 August 5. On personal letterhead to "Dear [nonsense syllable]/(I couldn't read your signature)" . In full: "I'm sorry, but I do not have time to do 'request' sketches. I have a line of items which feature my artwork for sale. A catalogue for these items is enclosed. Most sincerely [signature]. PS: Why on earth would you want a drawing of Rocky Rhino? PPS: I still have the 'BEATLESONGS' cover, but it is not for sale. Are you a sneaky record collector?" Fantasy and paleontological artist William Stout (b. 1949), famed for his drawings of dinosaurs, has contributed to both fictional works and museum art. Among his many contributions to fiction have been the animated version of Jurassic Park, the monster in Men in Black, and the little Brontosaurus that inspired the Land Before Time films. He has also been commissioned for major exhibitions, including one at the Smithsonian, and has been a designer for Disney and other theme parks. Stout also draws the past and present fauna of Antarctica, trying to popularize the protection of that continent. Among his early projects were cover designs for bootlegged record albums, hence the reference in the letter to "sneaky record" collecting. Normal mailing folds. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
