WILLIAM T. PRICE
The U.S. Congressman from Wisconsin pens his autograph on this 7¼x3½ piece of
paper, signed in purple ink
Signature: “William T. Price/Wisconsin” in purple ink. 7¼x3½. William Thompson Price
(1824-1886) was a U.S. Congressman from Wisconsin who served in the Wisconsin State
Senate in 1857, 1870, and 1878-1881, and was President of the Senate in 1879; he served
as collector of internal revenue from 1863 to 1865. William T. Price was elected as a
Republican to the 48th and 49th Congresses and served from March 4, 1883 until his
death; while in congress, he represented Wisconsin's 8th congressional district. In order to fill
the vacancy caused by his death, his son Hugh H. Price was elected to occupy his place and
served in that position until the end of the 49th Congress. Lightly toned. Left margin lightly
frayed. Otherwise, fine condition.
