Signature: 'W.W. Rice" in black ink. 5x1 clipping. William W. Rice (1826-1896) was a United States Representative from Massachusetts. Practicing law in Worcester, it wasn't long before Rice was appointed judge of insolvency for Worcester County in 1858, mayor of Worcester in 1859, and district attorney in 1869. After a year serving in the Massachusetts House of Representatives (1875), he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1877, a position he would hold for ten years until 1887. Irregularly cut. Frayed and torn. Soiled. Creased throughout. Otherwise, fine condition.
