Autograph Biography signed: "Willie Mosconi", 5x3 leaf. Most probably written in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 3, 1939, when Mosconi was playing in an exhibition at the American Billiard Hall. Headed: "Billiard Champion" by Mosconi at left margin. New York City - Jack Polansky/Promoter". Mosconi, who mentions winning prizes for high runs of 95 and 97 balls, set a run record of 127 balls in 1945. Willie Mosconi (1913-1993), the son of a pool hall owner, was a child prodigy at pool-type sports, staging exhibitions from the age of six. Mosconi, whose name is synonymous with "pocket billiards", won the World Billiards Championship fifteen times between 1941 and 1957, when he retired from competition following a stroke. Mosconi, who was technical advisor to the 1961 film, The Hustler, was also the author of several "how to" books on his sport. He is enshrined in the Italian American Hall of Fame. Mounting remnants at mid-left and right blank margins, one on left covers the middle of three file holes. Fine condition.
