WINCHESTER '73 MOVIE CAST: JAMES STEWART and SHELLEY WINTERS James Stewart and Shelley Winters sign a black and white publicity photograph of a scene from Winchester '73. Photograph signed: "Best wishes/James Stewart" and "Shelley Winters". B/w, 8x10. This 1950 western tells the "story of a rifle" as it changes hands until the final showdown and shootout on this rocky mountain cliff. JAMES STEWART starred in more recognized masterpieces of the American cinema than any other actor. He has appeared in more than his share of notable films due to the versatility of his screen personality; he became a great western star in classics directed by John Ford and Anthony Mann, but was equally outstanding in non-western movies made by Alfred Hitchcock, Otto Preminger, Frank Capra, George Cukor and Henry Hathaway. In 1940, Stewart won the Best Actor Academy Award for The Philadelphia Story. Some of his other films include: You Can't Take It With You, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Destry Rides Again, Winchester 73, Harvey (Oscar nomination), Rear Window, Vertigo, Anatomy of a Murder, It's A Wonderful Life, The Spirit of St. Louis, The Glenn Miller Story and The Greatest Show on Earth. SHELLEY WINTERS (1920-2006) received Academy Award nominations as Best Actress in A Place in the Sun (1951) and as Best Supporting Actress in A Patch of Blue (1965) and The Poseidon Adventure (1972). She won as Best Supporting Actress for The Diary of Anne Frank (1959). Her other memorable films include Lolita (1962), Alfie (1966) and Next Stop, Greenwich Village (1976). Winters made frequent appearances on Broadway stages and wrote two tell-all autobiographies. Fine condition.
