WINGS PLAY CAST
Constance Cummings and Arthur Kopit sign their names on a Playbill for a production of Wings
Show bill signed: "Constance/Cummings", "Arthur Kopit", in blue felt tip, 70 pages. Playbill for a production of Wings at the Lyceum Theatre in New York. CONSTANCE CUMMINGS (1910-2005) was a Broadway chorus dancer before breaking into Hollywood films with successes in The Criminal Code (1931) and Movie Crazy (1932). Marrying British playwright and parliamentarian W. Benn Levy in 1933, she earned acclaim on the London stage, with starring performances in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and Long Day's Journey Into Night. Awarded the Order of the British Empire in 1974, she returned triumphantly to New York, winning a Tony for Best Actress in Wings (1979). ARTHUR KOPIT (1937-2021) is an award nominated playwright, most known for his work on Broadway. He has written several plays for the Broadway stage, including Indians (1969), Wings (1979), and Nine (1984). However, despite all three being the most critically praised, the only one to actually win an award is his 1962 play Oh Dad, Poor Dad, Mamma's Hung You in the Closet and I'm Feelin' So Sad, which won a Drama Desk Award (then a Vernon Rice Award). Toned. Corners slightly worn. Fine condition.
