Singer/songwriter JOHN SEBASTIAN went on from leadership of the folk rock Lovin' Spoonful to a successful solo and composing career. MARTY BALIN was a key member of the psychedelic rock band Jefferson Airplane and its later incarnation, Jefferson Starship. JUMA SULTAN played percussion with legendary guitarist Jimmy Hendrix, as did JERRY VELEZ. COUNTRY JOE MACDONALD headed Country Joe and the Fish, best remembered for their anti-Vietnam War song, "Fixin' to Die Rag." English drummer/keyboardist CHICK CHURCHILL performed with the groups Ten Years After and UFO, while LEO LYONS was producer and bass guitar for the same bands. ALVIN LEE, now a solo artist, was the leader of the English band Ten Years After. Composer/keyboardist TOM CONSTENTEN was a member of The Grateful Dead at Woodstock, leaving the band in 1970 to pursue innovative music projects of his own.
