with signatures by "Country Joe" McDonald, members of Sly and the Family Stone,
Wavy Gravy, Larry Talor, Sultan and Velez (Jimi Hendrix Experience), and members
of Canned Heat. A collection of 19 signatures in all
Photograph signed: "Ric Lee", "Marty Balin", "Cty Joe [peace

"Edgar/Winter", "wAvY G.", "Cynthia/Robinson", "Jerry Martini", "Juma Sultan",
"J Velez", "Harvey Mandel", "Steve Kaye", "Larry Taylor", "Fito de la Parra",
"Corky", "Greg Errico", in blue felt tip, Color 10x8. This photo of the
Woodstock Music and Art Festival is signed by several performers who appeared
at the four day, now-legendary concert. Political activist WAVY GRAVY
was master of ceremonies (and the only person to appear on the bill at all
three Woodstock festivals). He was also part of the Hog Farm Collective hippie
commune, which was put in charge of security at Woodstock. Wavy Gravy called
this odd security force the "Please Force" based on their low-key methods at
keeping order. BALIN and KANTNER were co-founders of Jefferson
Airplane, which closed out the festival's second day on Aug. 16. CONSTANTEN
was keyboardist for Grateful Dead, which played the second day of the
festival. MARTINI, ROBINSON, and ERRICO were, respectively,
saxophonist, trumpeter, and drummer with Sly and the Family Stone, which played
after Grateful Dead and Creedence Clearwater Revival. ROLIE performed as
a vocalist and organist for Santana during their first wave of success.
McDONALD was lead singer for Country Joe and the Fish. He had a solo
performance as the third act of Aug. 16. He also joined Country Joe and the Fish
for a short set after Joe Cocker on Aug. 17, the last official day of the
festival. Country Joe and the Fish went on a rainstorm that briefly ground the
festival to a halt. RIC LEE, CHURCHILL and LYONS were all members
of Ten Years After. They played after Country Joe and the Fish's set on Aug. 17.
HARVEY MANDEL, LARRY "THE MOLE" TAYLOR, and FITO DE LA PARRA played for
Canned Heat, with Mandel playing guitar, Taylor playing bass, and de la
Parra playing drums. LAING was the drummer of the Canadian band
Mountain, which appeared as a working band during the concert. Blues man
JOHNNY WINTER appeared with his brother EDGAR WINTER played early
on Aug. 18 and was one of the last acts at Woodstock. But the honor of last act
went to Gypsy Sun and the Rainbows, with Jimi Hendrix backed up by SULTAN
and VELEZ; they were billed as The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Fine
condition.
