Program signed: "Wendy Craig" and "Joyce Carey" on their bio pages, 12p, 6¾x9¼. Program for the production of The Wrong Side of the Park by John Mortimer at the Cambridge Theatre, London, beginning 3 February 1960. At the Royal Court Theatre, WENDY CRAIG proved herself one of the most talented young actresses of her time with her performances in A Resounding Tinkle, The Sport of My Mad Mother and George Dillon, in which she later appeared at the Comedy Theatre and then on Broadway. A delightful comedy actress, JOYCE CAREY (1898-1993) had a long list of successful plays including The Young Person in Pink, The Romantic Young Lady and Dear Brutus. She wrote the long-running comedy Sweet Aloes. Carey appeared in a number of Noel Coward hits including Blithe Spirit, South Sea Bubble and Nude With Violin. She was featured in the British TV series The Cedar Tree (1976-1979). Her last stage appearance was as Mrs. Higgins, opposite Peter O'Toole, in Pygmalion (1984), but she was seen on TV into the 1990s. Author, barrister and screenwriter John Mortimer has written numerous books including Charade and Love and Lizards. He established himself as a rising playwright in the theatre and in television with his first play The Dock Brief and then with What Shall We Tell Caroline? The Wrong Side of the Park was the first full-length play he had written for the theatre. Lightly creased. Fold at upper right corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
