Y.A. TITTLE
The Hall of Fame NFL quarterback who spent most of his career with the San Francisco 49ers signed this 4x6 black and white photograph
Photograph Signed: "Y.A. Tittle/HOF 71". B/w. 4x6. The photograph depicts him in action on the field for the New York Giants, who he played for from 1961 to 1964. Hall of Fame quarterback Yelberton Abraham "Y. A." Tittle (1926-2017) played college football at Louisiana State, where he was MVP of the 1947 Cotton Bowl. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions with the 6th overall pick of the 1948 NFL draft, but first saw playing time with the Baltimore Colts, then of the All-America Football Conference. After the Colts folded, he was drafted a second time in 1951, this time by the San Francisco 49ers. He spent the bulk of his career with the 49ers (1951-1960), although they never made the playoffs with him under center. Tittle was traded to the New York Giants in 1961 and led the team to the championship game in 1961, 1962, and 1963. Incredibly, they lost all three. A 7-time Pro Bowl selection, Tittle set a record with 36 touchdown passes in 1963, a mark which stood for over two decades until Dan Marino broke it in 1984. Tittle's mark of 7 passing touchdowns in one game has been tied by 7 other players, but never broken. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1971. Tittle, who founded his own insurance company, played a head coach in the movie Any Given Sunday (1999). Bowed. Otherwise, fine condition.
