YOGI BERRA
The dynamic Yankee catcher signs this framed 15½x19¼ color photo
Photographsigned: "Yogi Berra", in blue felt tip, color, 15½x19¼. By way of hard work and
the help of Bill Dickey, Yogi Berra (1925-2015), born Lawrence Peter Berra, became a great
catcher. In his 19 seasons with the New York Yankees (1946-1965), Berra led the American
League in games caught and chances accepted eight times and double plays six times, and
he is one of only four catchers to ever field 1.000 in a season (1958). Between July 28,
1957 and May 10, 1959, Berra set major league records by catching in 148 consecutive
games and accepting 950 chances without making an error. Berra, who was named the
Yankees' manager for the 1964 season, was fired the day after the World Series ended.
Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972, he took over as manager of the New York
Mets that year and led them to the NL pennant in 1973, joining Joe McCarthy as the
second manager to win pennants in both leagues. Fine condition. Framed in the Gallery
of History style: 22¼x31½.
