YOGI BERRA
The Yankee catcher signs this partly printed letter in blue ink
Partly Printed Letter signed: "Yogi Berra", in blue ink, 1p, 7¾x9¼. No place, 1964 February 7. To the News Syndicate Co., Inc., 220 East 42nd Street, New York City. To "Gentlemen". In full: "In consideration of the publicity to be given to me and which may arise herefrom, my consent is hereby irrevocably given to you, your assignees and licensees, and to the Chicago Tribune-New York News Syndicate, Inc., and its subscribers and licensees, to use my name, picture, or portrait, in publications for editorial or promotional purposes, excluding, however, commercial advertising. Very truly yours". Yogi Berra (1925-2015) led the American League in games caught and chances accepted eight times, and led the league in double plays six times. He is one of only four catchers to ever field 1.000 in a season (1958), and between July 28, 1957 and May 10, 1959, Berra set major league records by catching in 148 consecutive games and accepting 950 chances without making an error. On October 24 1963, Yogi Berra was named the Yankees' manager for the 1964 season. He led the Yankees, with a 99-63 record, to the American League pennant. On October 17, 1964, the day after the Yankees lost game seven of the World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals, the Yankees fired him. He took over as the Mets' manager in 1972 and led them to the NL pennant in 1973, joining Joe McCarthy as the second manager to win pennants in both leagues. When his playing career was over, Berra had played on a record ten World Series champions. He also played in an unmatched 14 World Series and holds World Series records for games (75), at-bats (259), hits (71), and doubles (10). Yogi Berra was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972. Creases, minor nicks.  Otherwise, fine condition.
