YOKO ONO. Picture Postcard inscribed and signed: "To
David,/Love,/Yoko & Sean/Dec '85". Color, 6x4¼. Illustration of a green
planet ringed by a rainbow containing the word "imagine". Born in Tokyo (1933),
Ono was the classmate of imperial children at an elite prep school (although her
family suffered much during World War II). Moving to the U.S with her family,
she developed a strong interest in avante garde art and music. Her fame
derives largely from her tempestuous personal and artistic relationship with
John Lennon, whom she married in 1969 while he was still a member of The
Beatles. Enduring a largely hostile public, which assigned her much blame
for the Beatles' breakup and failed to appreciate her art, Ono had a great
influence on Lennon until his murder (1980). The couple's son Sean, born in
1975, has become a musician like his parents. Mounting remnants on verso do not
show through. Fine condition.
