YOUNG AT HEART MOVIE CAST
Color photograph of a young Frank Sinatra in a suit and tie playing
piano at a bar with a cigarette hanging from his lips, looking back and to the
right
Photograph unsigned, Color 10x8. From the 1954 film Young At
Heart directed by Gordon Douglas. The film stars Frank Sinatra, Doris Day,
Gig Young, Ethel Barrymore, Alan Hale Jr. and Dorothy Malone. It is a romantic
musical about two men and their relationships with the Tuttle family and their
three daughters. It was the first of five films that Gordon Douglas directed
with Frank Sinatra. Frank Sinatra (1915-1998) was a multi-talented actor
and singer won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1953 (as
Maggio in From Here to Eternity) and Grammy Awards for Best Pop
Vocal in 1959 ("Come Dance With Me"), 1965 ("It Was a Very Good Year") and
1966 ("Strangers in the Night"). After being with the Harry James Orchestra and
Tommy Dorsey, Sinatra struck out on his own, becoming the hero of a generation
of "bobby-soxers". "Old Blue Eyes" was popular in venues from casinos to concert
halls, and his renditions of such tunes as "My Way" and "New York, New
York" are inimitable classics. "The Chairman of the Board" was equally
well-known for his philanthropies. He was awarded the Jean Hersholt
Humanitarian Award in 1970. Fine condition.
