Photograph signed: "James Daly" and "Good Luck James MacArthur", B/w 8x10. In The Young Stranger (1957), Macarthur plays the son of a movie producer played by Daly. When the son gets in trouble at a movie theater neither his father nor the authorities believe his side of the story. MacArthur (1937-2010), a Los Angeles, California native, appeared on stage at an early age and in starring film roles from 1957 (including The Swiss Family Robinson, 1960, Spencer's Mountain (1963) and The Bedford Incident (1964). In 1968 he began his best known role as Dan "Dano" Williams in the hit TV series Hawaii 5-0, remaining with the show for 11 of its 12 seasons. He has made dozens of TV guest appearances. James Daly (1918-1978) had a big year on Broadway in 1950, when he won a Theatre Guild Award for a revival of Major Barbara and co-starred in a revival of The Glass Menagerie, He made his film debut in The Court Martial of Billy Mitchell (1955), but by that time he had already starred in a TV series Foreign Intrigue. In the 1960s he was a frequent TV guest star on shows like Twilight Zone. The Fugitive, Mission: Impossible and The FBI. He was the father of TV actress Tyne Daly.
