ZALMEN OR THE MADNESS OF GOD PLAY CAST Joseph Wiseman, Elie Wiesel, David Little, David Margulies, and four others sign their names on a Playbill for a production of Zalmen or the Madness of God Show bill signed: "Jack Hollander", "Joseph Wiseman", "Polly Adams", "David Little", "David Margulies", "Thank you/Richard/Bauer", "Ellie Wiesel", "Michael/Haney", "Lee Wallace", 36 pages, 5¾x9. Canadian-born stage, screen and television actor JOSEPH WISEMAN (1918-2009) is best known for his title role in the 1962 James Bond film, Dr. No. Dr. No, the first screen outing for Ian Fleming's character, James Bond (played by Sean Connery), co-starred Wiseman as an evil Chinese scientist who schemes to divert rockets launched from Cape Canaveral and blackmail the U.S. The film also starred Ursula Andress as Honey Ryder and Jack Lord as Felix Leiter. Although this was Wiseman's most famous role, it was not his favorite. He once said, "I had no idea what I was letting myself in for. I had no idea it would achieve the success it did. I know nothing about mysteries. I don't take to them. As far as I was concerned, I thought it might be just another Grade-B Charlie Chan mystery." Wiseman began his career on the stage with a Manhattan-based Italian acting troupe. Although he made his film debut in 1950's With These Hands, Wiseman had his first starring role in The Detective Story a year later. He went on to appear in such films as Viva Zapata! (1952), The Silver Chalice (1954), The Unforgiven (1960), Bye Bye Braverman (1968), The Night They Raided Minsky's (1968), The Valachi Papers (1972), The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz (1974), The Betsy (1978) and Seize the Day (1986). He also appeared in a long list of made-for-TV movies, and Wiseman made guest appearances on TV shows from early anthologies (from 1951) to Law & Order (1996). Journalist, novelist and playwright ELIE WIESEL (born in 1928), who survived four Nazi death camps, published his powerful novel, Night, the first of his works dealing with Judaism, the Holocaust and human rights, in 1956. Wiesel, who served as Chairman of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council from 1976-1986, was awarded the 1986 Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts on behalf of oppressed people worldwide. He and his wife, Marion, founded the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity. DAVID LITTLE (b. 1937) is an actor of stage and film, appearing in six Broadway plays and 27 film and television titles. Most of his roles have been minor in both venues, but he did have a recurring role in the television drama Law and Order (1990) as Judge Michael Schneider. DAVID MARGULIES (1937-2016) has appeared in both stage and film roles, being better known for his work on Broadway and his appearance as the Mayor of New York in Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghost Busters II (1989). He has appeared in a wide variety of Broadway productions, with starring roles in six of his credits, including Zalmen or the Madness of God (1976), Conversations With My Father (1992), and Wonderful Town.  Also signed by JACK HOLLANDER (b. 1918) as The Commissar, MICHAEL HANEY (b. 1949) as 1st Guard, POLLY ADAMS (b. 1939) as Nina, and LEE WALLACE (b. 1930) as The Inspector. Lightly toned. Corners slightly worn. Light surface striations. Otherwise, fine condition.
