ZANE GREY. Check filled out and signed: "Zane Grey", 8x3. Altadena, Cal., 1930 October 27. Drawn on his joint account at The Altadena National Bank, payable to "Leona Brault" for "$1250.00". Signed four years after the Western author and outdoorsman caught a 582-pound broadbill swordfish off Catalina Island (a photograph of Grey and his catch is matted with the check). Grey, a former New York dentist, published his most popular work, Riders of the Purple Sage, in 1912. Mid-vertical fold, bank cancellations and 2 stamps, none at signature. Pinholes at left blank area. Overall, fine condition. Presented in a leatherette folio, overall size: 10x12¾. 3inch separations at edges of upper spine, worn at lower edge of spine.
